Submission Requirements for the Tillage Magazine
Thank you for considering The Tillage Magazine as a platform for showcasing your creative work. We welcome submissions in the following categories: poetry, short stories, articles, art (including digital illustrations, surface pattern design, fine art, and photography), and more. The current submission deadline is April 5, 2024.
To ensure a smooth submission process and the highest quality content for our readers, please adhere to the following guidelines:
File Naming
Please name your files appropriately, including your last name and a brief description of the artwork (e.g., Smith_Sunset.jpg).
Copyright and Permissions
Ensure that you have the necessary rights and permissions for any recognizable individuals or copyrighted material depicted in your photos or digital art.
Submission Procedure
Please submit all entries via email to tillagemagazine@gmail.com with the subject line indicating the category of your submission (e.g., Poetry Submission, Art Submission).
Include a brief bio (50 words or less) in the body of the email along with your submission.
Include a ~200 word explanation of your piece and how it relates to the theme in the body of the email, along with your submission.
Multiple submissions are welcome, but please send each submission separately.
Written Submission Format
All written submissions (poetry, short stories, articles) should be in a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, Arial) and submitted in a Word document or PDF format as an email attachment.
Poetry submissions should include no more than five poems per entry.
Short stories should be limited to 3,000 words or less.
Articles should be well-researched, engaging, and relevant to our readership, with a maximum word count of 2,000 words.
Image Submission Format
All images including photos, traditional and digital art should be high-resolution (at least 300 dpi) to ensure quality reproduction in print.
Digital art should be submitted in CYMK color mode.
Art submissions (including digital illustrations, fine art, and photography) should be high-resolution images in JPEG or PNG format.
Digital art should be high-resolution with a minimum of 300ppi and submitted as a JPEG or PNG.
Ensure that there are no watermarks or signatures on the artwork that would detract from the overall presentation.
Response Time
We aim to respond to all submissions within 4-6 weeks. If you haven't heard back from us within this time frame, feel free to send a polite inquiry.
